The NeuroAffective Relational Model® (NARM®) is a specialized, resource-oriented psychotherapy developed by Dr. Laurence Heller and is designed to heal complex trauma (C-PTSD) arising from adverse childhood experiences. NARM uses a top-down and bottom-up, non-regressive approach to help clients reconnect with their emotions and body, ultimately fostering self-regulation and a stronger, more integrated sense of self.

NARM focuses on overcoming attachment, relational, and developmental trauma by addressing adaptive survival styles.

NARM is a non-pathologizing and present moment approach that focuses on personal capacity and strengths to elevate symptoms. NARM is a containment model that enables clients to build capacity to handle intense emotions. It focuses on current behavioral patterns to heal past trauma.

NARM aims to help individuals move beyond their survival strategies to experience greater connection with themselves and others.

NARM® is effective for :

  • Complex Trauma (C-PTSD): Persistent or repetitive trauma rather than a single event.

  • Childhood Developmental Trauma: Early attachment wounds and emotional neglect.

  • Chronic Self-Disconnection: Feeling detached from the body, emotions, or vitality.

  • Relationship Difficulties: Issues with trust, intimacy, and setting boundaries.

  • Mental Health Struggles: Anxiety, depression, addictions, eating disorders, and chronic stress.

  • Deep-Rooted Shame: Addressing distortions in identity and self-worth.
